Equus Maximus

Draft Stallion sculpted by: Kathi Bogucki
I have always been a great admirer of the work of George Ford Morris. Many happy hours of my youth were spent paging through his book, Portraitures of Horses.
When the time came that I decided to sculpt a draft horse, there was no question that one of my favorite Morris paintings would be my inspiration.

This guy was sculpted using the measurements from
a couple of 18.2 hh horses, so even in 1/9th scale, he stands an impressive 13" tall to his ear tips!
(13" without his base and 13.5" with it) Note size comparison to Dozen Roses resin.
With his haughty expression, Max exudes the sort of confidence one would expect from such an enormous horse. His ears are gently turned back, but not pinned, as he listens intently to the noises around him. Perhaps he is keeping track of where his handler is, or listening to the sound of the hitch horses and wagon?
Although EQUUS MAXIMUS was originally sculpted to represent a Percheron Stallion, we believe he will also work well as one of the many other light-feathered draft breeds.

Paved stone textured base.
Pleated tail fans.
Scotch bottom shoes.
Mane roll and rosettes with sprigs ready for custom farm colours! Each of the mane rosettes are sculpted for maximum stability and individually reinforced with wire rods. They have a delicate appearance but are amazingly durable! I've done Max with the customary 7 rosettes for a halter class. . .for a hitch horse he could easily be customized to have the traiditonal 5 rosettes.
He is being hollow cast by Resins By Randy and offered in a limited edition of 150.
